This year’s award-winning exhibit marks a major milestone as South Africa celebrates 50 years of participation at Chelsea. Led by acclaimed South African horticulturist and landscape designer Leon Kluge, together with artist Tristan Woudberg and a passionate local team, the display captured the attention of visitors and judges alike with a powerful theme titled Life After Fire.

Inspired by the devastating Cape wildfires and the remarkable regeneration that follows within fynbos ecosystems, the exhibit told a uniquely South African story of resilience, renewal and natural beauty. The display featured dramatic burnt protea branches, indigenous orchids, flowering bulbs, flowing water elements and vibrant fynbos, symbolising how life returns after destruction.

Following the announcement of the Gold medal win, the South African team thanked supporters back home, the country’s flower growers, volunteers and the wider flower industry for helping bring the ambitious project to life.

Sponsors, including the Rupert Nature Foundation, Grootbos Foundation, Hazendal and Southern Sun, were also recognised for their support in making the exhibit possible. The display continues to place global attention on South Africa’s extraordinary floral heritage and the importance of conserving the Cape Floral Kingdom for future generations.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show attracts more than 170,000 visitors annually and is regarded as one of the biggest stages in the international gardening and floral world. South Africa’s continued success at Chelsea once again highlights the beauty, biodiversity and global significance of the country’s indigenous flora.
