Parenting is not for sissies. It is HARD. No one tells you this before you have kids.
Sure there is the joy, special moments, the laughs, cuddles and moments of crushing breath- taking love. But there is also the anxiety, the heart ache, the sadness, the despair and sorrow.
And the worry… you worry, like all the time! You worry about;
Your kid’s safety
Their social life
If they are coping at school
Study and career choices
What they might get exposed to online
If your kid is going to get sick
If you are going to get sick
What if you die, what will happen?
So what do you do as a parent? You can’t live your life in a state of anxiety and worry all the time?
Some things you just have to let go. You can’t take this all on. Have faith in your abilities and in the support system around you. Know that you are doing the BEST that you can.
The key is to find that sweet balance in keeping your kids safe and also allowing you to breath and have a life. Most things we worry about do not happen so do not allow yourself to live in a created fantasy of what could happen.
What do you do? How do you handle this?
